ROGATE BOWLING CLUB NEW CLUB HOUSE UPDATE

We are now well on the way to completing the foundations for our new Clubhouse and the walls will start to go up shortly.  We still don’t have a completion date, but will be starting our Bowling Season next weekend using the facilities at the White Horse public house for our refreshments.

Our friendly fixtures start on 19th April, and the League season commences on 6th May. Obviously with building work going on,  access to the ground will be a little limited, but if you would like to try your hand at bowling, we would be pleased to welcome you at one of our roll-up sessions on Mondays from 4.00 pm or Thursdays from 10.00 – 12.00 noon.  Just come along and meet the members.

THE CLUB:  Rogate Bowling Club is a well established Club founded in 1930. We are affiliated to the English Bowling Association and to the Sussex County Bowling Association.

We have four rinks and when the new clubhouse is built, will again be able to provide changing rooms, toilets and a tea area.  The Club has over 50 playing members, and several social members and is self financing.  Membership is open to men and women by annual subscription with a joining fee for new members.  Junior Members (i.e. those in full time education) may join for a reduced annual subscription.

We cater for beginners and serious players, with plenty of competitive matches and club competitions.  We also have two teams competing in the Three Counties Bowls Fellowship.

New members are always welcome and please feel free to come along to the Club during the roll-up sessions as there is plenty of seating around the green for spectators.  If you wish to try your hand at bowls, speak to one of our bowlers who should be able to arrange for you to have an introductory session with an instructor, or contact one of the club officers listed below.

PROGRAMME OF EVENTS FOR 2008

The Club participates in the Three Counties Bowls Fellowship with a team in each of Divisions 2 and 4. During the 2008 season, as well as league fixtures, the Club will be playing friendly matches with 20 local clubs, both home and away.  In addition to this we will hold a number of internal competitions, and the season will continue through to mid September.

We hold our Club Dinner in October at which trophies are presented to winners and runners up of the various competitions.  Some of the 2007 winners are shown below.

Latest Friendly Fixtures Results Roundup

Although the Club’s first two friendly matches of the Season, against Purbrook and Sutton, were rained off, the Season has started well with a win away against Rowledge on our first game.

League Results

The A team played an away match against Four Marks and secured an overall win, while the B team had a close match at home against Petersfield with an overall win by one shot.

As our new Club house is still under construction an arrangement for post match refreshments has been made with The White Horse in Rogate.  The B team and visitors were made very welcome there following the home game on Tuesday, and this arrangement will continue for home matches throughout the Season.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Club.
